As all Carlsson fans know, the OA-52 is the top model in the 50-series. It is an upgraded version OA-52.2 and was Stig Carlssons favourite model in the long row of models. It was the speaker he worked with for half a decade in order to improve and refine it. Now it is time to present the model in its very best and perhaps final version, the further enhanced and upgraded OA-52.3, which was started to be manufactured in March 2003 in the Carlssonfabriken in Skillingaryd.
\nHere is a closer presentation of the new model:<\/p>\n

NEWS<\/strong>
\nThe new OA-52.3 includes a number of news compared to the previous model:
\n1. New finish. <\/strong>The new series is produced with wooden veneer with the following materials: beech, cherry, mahogany and black veneer.
\n2. New tweeter. <\/strong>The newly developed silk dome tweeter, Carlsson T11-oa is of course mounted on the OA-52.3. For a closer presentation of this element, please refer to the CarlssonPlanet News letter no. 20 on the site (Swedish only).
\n3. New filter.<\/strong> Internally rather extensive revisions of Stig Carlssons classical simple filter for OA-52.2 has been made. This has been done in order to give the speakers an even flatter frequency response and better phase linearity than its predecessor. At the same time the filters are equipped with even better components than earlier. Large expensive and well sounding capacitors in paper and oil from the Danish company Jensen. Also new exclusive copper foiled coils from Jensen. The Jensen capacitors are partly connected in parallel with the polypropylene based SCR\/MKP capacitors, the outmost well sounding kind recommended by CarlssonPlanet.
\n4. New bass port.<\/strong> The edges of the bass ports are rounded, which in an elegant manner solved the chuffing noise distortion due to the heavy air movement in the bass tunnel. A very welcome modification for the enthusiasts!<\/p>\n

SOUND<\/strong>
\nThis is how the chairman of SSC, Lars B\u00e4cklund describes the new OA-52.3: \u201cYou can play the OA-52.3 very loud. It provides, as few other speakers, an exciting feeling of live performance. It also provides an acoustical establishment as few other. OA-52.3 is a true Carlsson speaker in the highest class and the choice for many musicians.\u201d<\/p>\n

RESTORATION KITS<\/strong>
\nIt is of course already possible to order restoration kits, transforming an older OA-52 pair to the new exquisite OA-52.3 model. The following kits are available:
\n– upgrading from OA-52 (the 1980\u2019s model) with new Scan Speak bass 18W8545, new Carlsson T-11oa tweeter and new cross over filters Jensen paper based oil capacitors, Jensen copper foil coils and Teflon isolated solid core cabling. In addition special calibrated SD feet, wooden and aluminium details and damping blanket.

\n– upgrading from OA-52.2 with new T-11oa tweeters and new filter.

VENEERING OA-52-SERIES<\/strong>
\nThe wooden veneer on older pairs of OA-52\/.2 may today be more or less damaged. In association to the new upgrade kits for the 50-series, Carlssonfabriken has as an additional service decided to offer the owners the possibility to mount new veneer on their old worn out cabinets. It is however not for free, but for those hesitating there are some photographs available on the site, showing how nice it looks. What about the pictures on this page? It is a really good looking speaker.<\/p>\n
