Peerless Tweeters

I'm very pleased with my recently bought & rewired OA5ii, but have not yet replaced the tweeters.
The excellent renovation advice on this site recommends the Peerless CT62 for all the older loudspeakers, but looking at the Peerless website, the 53NDT (811435) looks like a good alternative.
Has anyone tried the 53NDT ?- more expensive than the CT62, but no woodwork needed and I don't understand enough about the Thiele-Small parameters to know if there would be problems.

Yes.
In Australia I was unable to buy the CT 62H tweeter locally. An alternative tweeter suggested to me by a local "Speaker expert" was the 53NDT. I did not try it because I found some CT 62H in the US and they were cheap. I do not know however whether any have been fitted to Sonab's. Evidently a Vifa tweeter is also a close match but it is more difficult to fit: I do not know the model number of that. Have a look at the Madisound or Speaker City websites both have  the CT62 listed at around $10US each. I just bought some from Speaker City in Burbank CA and found their service excellent.

I would move quickly because if you look at the Peerless site you will see that the CT62 is one of the speakers that has been discontinued,and currently they show no replacement.
The CT 62 "knocks the socks off" the old tweeter and although I have not heard an OA-5 I think it would make a huge difference. The difference they made to my OA14's was nothing short of amazing , although I changed the layout to the new "Y" configuration at the same time.
It may be worth asking the guys at Carlssonplanet directly if you can't get an answer on the board whether this modification is suitable for the OA-5.

Hi!

Just to confirm, the Peerless CT62 is the recommended replacement for all Peerless Cone tweeters (MT20HFC and MT24HFC) on all Early models of Carlsson speakers.

Yes; I'm not going to say who gave me the info because he sells speakers and parts and  he knows a lot about Sonabs.
The problem in Australia is that you cannot buy a CT62 here at all so I guess people are looking for substitutes. I have imported 14 CT62's from the US and I already got two of tjhe last known batch of Australia; so that will cover all of my speakers plus a couple of spares. If I get another pair of OA14's or even OA12's and sell one set of OD11's what will be my chances of getting CT62's in the future or do you think Carlsson or Peerless will be coming up with an alternative?
