Availability of spare drivers for older Sonab speakers.

Hej!
I am sorry for starting a new thread but my Swedish is close to nonexistent and I can only guess at what other members have already written on the subject.
I understand that a new bass unit that would replace the SC 165 is in the pipeline. However, the CT62 tweeter is also out of production and, so far, I have not found any Peerless representative that has it in stock. Of course older Sonab speakers are too precious to be left unserviced and I expect that a substitute will be found. The questions are "when" and "how much". I have told my son that he can have my old Sonab OA14s, which unfortunaterly are in dire need of both bass and tweeter units, but after my unsuccessful atempts to find replacement drivers so far, he tells me that he would rather spend the money towards a pair of new speakers.
Could anyone give me any idea where I could find a set of eight CT62 s or their substitutes?

Hej Grigoris!

I'll try to give You some answers. (Apologize for my bad English!)

As You write, "SC 165 is in the pipeline". The new driver is supposed to be on the market in April. According to what I heard from Per Gullbrandsen, (The founder of CARLSSONPLANET), http://www.hifikit.se will be a dealer here in Sweden.

The SSC (The Stig Carlsson Foundation) is developing a new tweeter, that will be on the market earliest in the autumn this year.

I think it will be very hard, if not impossible, to find any CT62:s.

Thank you Conny for the good news. I had started to despair about the tweeters, especially after the reply, today, from Dansk Audio Teknik that their stock of CT62 was sold out.
I guess my OA-14s will have to wait until autumn and my son will have to get other speakers till then.
By the way, your English is perfectly adequate.

If You don't want to wait, You can try to change the foam surroundings on the woofers.

The tweeters, are they in very bad condition? They don't usually are.
If they are, I think You might be able to find used original tweeters (MT20HFC), if You advertise.
Or maybe CARLSSONPLANET have some?

Will there be versions for the bass units of the OA2212 also?

These units come in so many different resistances - I hope there will be some for all.

I read in a Swedish thread that the new bass driver will replace both the 8 and the 16 Ohm version.
Per Gullbrandsen wrote in this thread (today) that this driver will be available whithin 10 weeks.

The 5,3 Ohm version is going to be a complete own design, and it's not ready yet. As I understand it, it will take a while.

I can add that there will be be some modification for the crossover for the old speakers (from the seventies and eighties), when using this new woofer.

I'm only glad if I can help with a little translation.

It's fun to try my old "skills". It's been a while since I learned English in school. (As I think of it, more than 30 Years! -I'm getting old!

I learned my English over forty years ago, but I guess that's the whole idea of this forum: standing up to time.
Thank you for the tips on temporarily repairing my OA14s but the woofers are beyond repair and two of the tweeters are burned out. I think I will wait for the new woofers, if they are to become available within two months, and I will look for two of the MT20HFC tweeters.
I hope the modifications on the crossover for the new woofer will not affect the tweeters as well.

In the thread I refered to earlier, I can read that SSC will develope a modification description for the crossover, so that the owners of the old models* will be able to benefit of the advantages of the new woofer.

If they mean with the new or the old tweeter I dont know.

*The new woofer will be used in the OA58:s.
